After the assault, the driver and the woman fled. The girl managed to reach Panagar police station and report the incident. The police arrested the auto-rickshaw driver and the woman, charging the woman as an accomplice for failing to help the minor. The driver, Anush Kewat, is a known criminal with several past cases against him.
