It was previously suspended in March due to the summer season but is now resuming operations with the onset of the monsoon. The fare for a Vista Dome coach is INR 265, while the fare for a non-AC chair car is INR 20. The train's operations were disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic in April 2020 but resumed in August 2021 with several improvements. To facilitate access for tourists, a DEMU train (09390) will be extended to Patalpani from Ratlam via Mhow, connecting tourists from Indore and Mhow directly to the Patalpani station.

Railway Station. Passenger train services between Mhow and Patalpani will commence soon after the trial run report is approved. The DRM, Rajnish Kumar, stated that the 5 km broad gauge conversion between Mhow and Patalpani is finished. They plan to launch the Heritage Train service this month. The Heritage Train will operate between Patalpani and Kalakund, covering 10 km. It will offer passengers the chance to experience the Patalpani Station, Patalpani Waterfall, Valley Bridge, Kalakund, and four tunnels. Passengers will need to travel via DEMU for 5.5 km between Mhow and Patalpani due to the change in gauge. The Heritage Train will run three days a week, initially with two Vista Dome AC Chair Cars (C-1 and C-2) and three Non-AC Chair Cars (D-1, D-2, and D-3). Tickets will be sold separately for the journey. The train is scheduled to depart from Patalpani at 11:05 am and reach Kalakund at 1:25 pm. The return journey will commence from Kalakund at 3:34 pm and arrive at Patalpani at 4:30 pm. The train will stay at Kalakund for approximately two hours to allow passengers to explore the waterfalls and mountains. This section of the track was designated as a Heritage Track in 2018, marking the debut of the state's only Heritage Train. This train has been popular with travelers and operates during the monsoon season. The railway line was laid in 1877. There were plans to shut down the line a few years ago, but due to the tourism potential of the location, a smaller train service was maintained.
