The prime minister will lay the foundation stone for these stations, including 7 in the Asansol Division and 1500 rail overbridges and underpasses, via video conferencing from Deoghar station. The redevelopment of these stations is part of the larger 'Amrit Bharat Station' scheme launched on August 6, 2023, aiming to revamp 508 stations across 27 states. The Asansol Division has earmarked seven stations – Basukinath, Deoghar, Dumka, Jamtara, Panagarh, Shankarpur, and Vidyasagar – for redevelopment under the Amrit Station scheme.
