What was the distance criteria specified for VM? Because it looks that they are planning to run for 300 - 400 kms than stated. Ig it was around 100-200 kms?

There are regular MEMU/DEMU services operating similar distances. But this one is Air-conditioned and skipping a lot of intermediate halts like a regular Intercity Express does and makes the name 'Metro' redundant.
I guess this is made to replace Intercity trains.

The MAQ- MAO VB should be replaced by a Vande Metro as it skips to many in between stations. It mostly has below 50% occupancy.

Any ideas of the names of the future Vande Metro to be launched ?
Central Railway's Mumbai Division would be receiving India's first Vande metro Rake by this month's end .It's official, and according to the official known , Mumbai-Pune trial would be initiated in the first week of October.

Only one rake of 12 car is manufactured by ICF Chennai. Don't know whether rakes are ordered or not. One more rake is being manufactured in Kaparthula with 16 coaches.
Some leading newspaper mentioned about Central Railway in which the CPRO of CR said they will receive the rake by this month end from Kapurthala for trials in the ghat section. Lets see if this happens to be true or not.
