The Dhanbad division has a significant role in freight loading, particularly coal loading, in Indian Railways. From April to December 2023, the division achieved the highest freight loading of 139.34 million tonnes, surpassing the second-ranked Bilaspur division by 10.93%. During the same period, the division earned the highest revenue of ₹18506.15 crores from freight loading, surpassing the second-ranked division by 17.31%. The division also loaded 739 rakes of cement, an increase of 7.3% compared to the same period in the previous financial year.
