tracks. Additional SP (Traffic Tourist & Railways) Narveer Singh Rathore informed The Tribune that police personnel from the state police department have been deployed to the GRP to investigate criminal cases on railway tracks and stations. He added that GRP duty has been increased at railway stations and junctions in Shimla, Una, and Kangra districts to prevent suspicious elements from entering the state with the intent of committing criminal or subversive acts. The police clarified that the GRP's services are being used for patrolling railway tracks and professional investigations of railway sabotage cases. The Himachal Pradesh Police deployed 70 police personnel of all ranks to the GRP to maintain law and order, detect and investigate criminal offenses in the railway jurisdiction. Currently, only two GRP police stations operate in Shimla and Kangra. Considering the increase in passenger numbers across the state, particularly in Kangra, additional railway police stations should be established. ASP Rathore stated that a proposal for new railway police stations would be submitted to higher authorities.
