The accident, which occurred near Motiganj-Jhilahi station on the Gonda-Mankappur rail section, resulted in the derailment of 19 coaches and the death of four passengers. The Northeast Railway Lucknow Division's joint investigation team had previously identified negligence by the engineering department, including a delay in issuing a caution memo by the Senior Section Engineer (SSE). The CRS investigation, which began on July 21st at the Northeast Railway Lucknow Division's DRM office, included recording written statements from personnel across various departments. The final report will be submitted to the Railway Board shortly.
