Tata-Patna train from Platform 3, and the Deoghar-Banaras Vande Bharat train will be flagged off online. The General Manager of South Eastern Railway, Anil Kumar Mishra, inspected the preparations for PM Modi's visit, accompanied by other senior officials. Just like AF-JP Shatabdi was for the Shatabdi tag in general, TATA-Brahmapur might prove to be for VB. Running a VB via rural Jharkhand is insane.Though I guess people will still take it because it will connect Cuttack and Bhubaneswar via a different alignment[ assuming it takes the rural Jharkhand part and doesn't loop via KGP].

It blows my mind that TATA and Brahmapur have no daily rail connections and the first train they decide to give it is a VB. That is as tone deaf as giving Lucknow - Raipur

Garib Rath as the primary connection between two cities. It goes to show that IR has learned nothing over the years. And when down the line, governments ultimately change, the VB will go the same way as the GR did, forgotten to history perhaps. You know what kind of trains successive governments don't cancel, even when transfer of power takes place from British to Indian hands? Mail/Express trains. Countless overnight express trains have been running across India for over a century untainted by any political connection. They could have done the same for TATA-Brahmapur if they truly cared about the common folks.

But neither in the short term [since people will be forced to pay extra money] nor long term[this train might be canceled when power transfers], did they think about the common person.

Ashwini Vaishnaw, who also shared a video of the train on social media. The train will undergo trials for the next 10 days and is expected to be operational for the public within 3 months. The first Vande Bharat Sleeper train will operate between Patna and Delhi, covering the distance at a speed of approximately 160 km per hour. It will consist of 16 coaches and will take 8 hours to reach Delhi from Patna. The train will have a total of 823 berths, significantly more than the 530 seats on the existing Vande Bharat Chair car trains, which have 8 coaches. The Railway Minister stated that the train is designed for middle-class passengers and the fare is expected to be comparable to Rajdhani Express fares. The initial plan is to operate the train for distances ranging from 800 to 1200 km, aiming to make it the preferred choice for overnight journeys. The Vande Bharat Sleeper train is expected to commence operations by December. The coaches are ready, and the train will undergo trials for the next 2 months before being made available for passengers. It's designed for overnight journeys where passengers can board after dinner and reach their destination by breakfast.

Impossible. PNBE to NDLS is ~1000 km. To cover in 8 hrs, the train needs to do an average of ~125 kph. The tracks on this route can only take upto 130 kph.Even assuming it's faster than Patna Rajdhani by an hour, that's still 11 hrs of sitting.

Check the original timings for Lucknow Shatabdi sometime. It was 6h 15 mins, I think and it had to undergo a Loco change from electric to diesel at CNB. Now it is 30 mins slower despite no loco change.

Logon ne fir protest kiya toh railway ne fir se broad gauge line bithane ki planning ki aur Bithur station banaya. Par Bithur se trains bahut kam chal rahi hain. Mandhana aur Bithur ke beech ek halt station banne wala tha, par woh bhi kam earning ke karan cancel kar diya gaya. Bithur ko Lucknow railway line se Ganga par bridge bana kar jodne ki planning bhi adhuri reh gayi hai. Yeh planning thi ki Lucknow ka Azgain station se Farrukhabad jaane wali train, Bithur aur Mandhana se hoti hue nikle, aur Kanpur Central jaane ki jarurat na pade.

I went to Bithoor/Brahmavart via train once from CNB. I took Gomti upto CNB and waited for the EMU there. Surprisingly, no one knew which train will go there. Apparently, the LKO-CNB EMU has an RSA with the Brahmavart one. Either case, the train was largely empty back then. If IR is serious, they should build the proposed rail line by diverting trains going towards Farrukhabad side via Ajgain bypassing main CNB station. This will reduce time, especially considering that lots of time is usually gone at the heavily congested CNB station.
