The Channasandra railway station in East Bengaluru is undergoing a major upgrade to handle the anticipated surge in passengers due to the upcoming Bengaluru Suburban Rail network and Namma Metro's airport line. platform, foot overbridge, improved amenities like parking, ticketing counters, and food outlets, and potentially even long-distance train stops. This project, costing Rs 20 crore under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, aims to transform Channasandra into a significant station, expected to handle half the traffic of Yesvantpur station and potentially attract long-distance trains in the future.

East Bengaluru mein Channasandra railway station ko ek bada upgrade diya ja raha hai, kyunki Bengaluru Suburban Rail network aur Namma Metro ka airport line yahan rukne wala hai. Is station pe abhi har din 12,000 passengers aate hain aur sirf local trains rukti hain. Lekin, upgrade mein ek extra platform,...

Suburban rail project: All things considered

The first phase of Bengaluru's suburban railway project, spanning 25 km between Chikkabanavara and Baiyyappanahalli (Corridor-2) and 46.88 km between Heelalige and Rajanukunte (Corridor-4), is expected to be completed by December 2026. Union Minister of State for Railways, V Somanna, and Karnataka's Minister for Infrastructure Development, MB Patil, made this...

announcement on Monday. Coordination is key, with officials from Bengaluru Metro, the suburban railway project, and the railways being urged to work together. A meeting in Delhi is planned to address the issue of rail coach procurement, which has been hampered by a lack of participation from companies in the public-private partnership (PPP) tender. The project is set to be expanded to connect Bengaluru with neighbouring cities like Tumakuru, Mysuru, Magadi, Gauribidanur, and Kolar. Discussions are ongoing to potentially link Corridor-1 (Bengaluru to Yelahanka-Devanahalli) directly to Kolar. The project also includes the integration of the suburban railway with Bengaluru's 281-km circular railway network, which is already approved and will cost an estimated ₹21,000 crore. Work on Corridor-2 is progressing, with 28% of physical work and 22% of financial expenditure completed. The tender for Corridor-4 was awarded to L&T on December 30, 2023, and the civil works are in progress. The tender for 18 stations along Corridor-4 has been floated. Land acquisition for Corridor-4 is underway, with 115.47 acres of railway land leased and the final notification issued for acquiring 16 acres of private land. The revised alignment plan for Corridor-1 has been submitted to South Western Railway. The procurement of 306 rail coaches was initially planned under a PPP model, but this has been put on hold due to the lack of participation. The ministers are aiming to secure the coaches at least six months before the project's completion to ensure a smooth start to operations.

Bengaluru ka suburban railway project ka pehla phase, Chikkabanavara aur Baiyyappanahalli ke beech 25 km (Corridor-2) aur Heelalige aur Rajanukunte ke beech 46.88 km (Corridor-4), December 2026 tak complete hone wala hai. Union Minister of State for Railways, V Somanna, aur Karnataka ke Minister for Infrastructure Development, MB Patil, ne...

Monday ko yeh announcement kiya. Coordination bahut important hai, Bengaluru Metro, suburban railway project aur railways ke officials ko saath mein kaam karne ko bola gaya hai. Rail coach procurement mein aai hui problem ko solve karne ke liye Delhi mein meeting hone wali hai, jismein public-private partnership (PPP) tender mein companies ki participation ka lack of participation hai. Project ko expand karke Bengaluru ko Tumakuru, Mysuru, Magadi, Gauribidanur aur Kolar jaise neighbouring cities se connect kiya jaayega. Corridor-1 (Bengaluru se Yelahanka-Devanahalli) ko directly Kolar se connect karne ka bhi discussion chal raha hai. Project mein Bengaluru ke 281-km circular railway network ke saath suburban railway ko integrate karna bhi shamil hai, yeh network already approve ho chuka hai aur isme ₹21,000 crore ki cost ayegi. Corridor-2 par kaam chal raha hai, 28% physical work aur 22% financial expenditure complete ho chuka hai. Corridor-4 ka tender December 30, 2023 ko L&T ko diya gaya tha, aur civil works chal rahe hain. Corridor-4 par 18 stations ke liye tender float kiya gaya hai. Corridor-4 ke liye land acquisition chal raha hai, 115.47 acres railway land lease kiya gaya hai aur 16 acres private land acquire karne ka final notification jaari kiya gaya hai. Corridor-1 ke liye revised alignment plan South Western Railway ko submit kiya gaya hai. Shuru mein 306 rail coaches ki procurement PPP model ke neeche plan ki gayi thi, par yeh plan ab hold pe hai, kyunki companies ki participation nahin thi. Ministers ka target hai ki project complete hone se kam se kam 6 months pehle coaches secure kar liye jaaye, taaki operation smoothly start ho sake.
